Department of Political and Global Affairs

Virtual Mentoring Program

The Department of Political & Global Studies hosts a longstanding Virtual Mentoring Program that has proven valuable to students and alumni. Students across multiple disciplines, including Political Science, International Relations, Global Studies, Human Geography, Public Policy & Management, Law, and more, are represented.

Our Virtual Mentoring Program helps students build understanding and confidence in their academic and professional development. It also gives them experience with professional communication, networking, and planning ahead.

Used in the PS 2000: Political Science & International Relations as a Profession class, the Virtual Mentoring Program connects currently enrolled students with alumni of the department. These graduates volunteer their time to mentor undergraduate students who are starting off with their studies and crafting their career paths.

If you are a currently enrolled PGA student seeking mentoring outside of the PS 2000 course, please contact us at pga@mtsu.edu.

Mentors are selected by the Department due to their high achievements academically and professionally, as well as their leadership and contributions to MTSU. You can see some of these Virtual Mentors on our Spotlight on Graduates page.

Communication is typically done via email, but it may also take place via Zoom at the discretion of the mentors.

If you are a graduate who is interested in participating, please reach out to pga@mtsu.edu to get connected with us.
