Department of Political and Global Affairs
Masters in International Affairs (MAIA)
The M.A. International Affairs degree (MAIA) opens doors to career opportunities in an increasingly globalized world — not only in cities abroad but also right here in Middle Tennessee.
Our graduates enjoy professional positions in the U.S. government and military, in business and industry, in higher education, and in the nonprofit sector. Our graduates now live in far-flung cities like London, Geneva, and Riyadh, as well as in our own backyard, in places like Huntsville, Clarksville, and Nashville.
Graduates have gone on to work at the State Department, NASA, the FBI & TBI, the United Nations, American Red Cross, Free For Life International, the Tennessee World Affairs Council, and SpaceX. An emphasis is placed on employability and professional skills, and students are encouraged to participate in many professional development opportunities ranging from workshops to practicum experiences.
